About Protestant wedding rites
The ceremony usually starts with a procession down the aisle, where the wedding entourage awaits the bride as she is accompanied by her father. Then there is the traditional call to worship by the pastor, stating the reason why they are all gathered. After that, he reads some excerpts from the Bible and gives a sermon to advise the couple.
Then you have the reading of the wedding vows, personalised or traditional, and the exchange of the wedding rings, which the officiant will first bless by asserting “With this ring I thee wed”, or any statements alike. The priest pronounces then the couple husband and wife and the statement is sealed with a kiss. The ceremony concludes after the minister gives his final blessing.
The ceremony is performed in English and couples are allowed to personalise it. You can only celebrate the Protestant blessing, as Italian law requires civil rites to be previously held either in Italy or in your home country, before the religious ceremony.
A copy of the marriage certificate is required to perform the Protestant blessing. Your wedding planner Brilliant Events will assist you in the documents’ arrangement. The upside is that your wedding in Italy has legal validity and is recognised on an international level!
